Computer lab: Over 80 programs are available in the library to provide learning opportunities in areas such as note reading, rhythm reading, ear training, theory and other lessons.
Learned repertoire is recorded: Students record the songs they have learned onto floppy disks and these songs are reviewed and critiqued. As students progress from one level to another, the songs they have recorded are transferred to a CD that they can keep.
Digital Orchestra: What better way to develop excellent rhythm and listening skills! Even beginners can sound good. Students learn to play with external stimuli (the orchestra) which prepares them to accompany a vocalist, instrumentalist, choir or follow a conductor. It develops a sense of musicality since the recordings used are not mechanical (as a metronome would be) but has tempo and dynamic changes.
Group Classes: The second full week of each month is designated as Group Week. Once a month, private students meet for an hour long Group lesson instead of their private lesson. Groups are organized according to level and grade. Group music lessons focus on ear training,
note and rhythm reading, applied theory, composition, improvising and ensemble playing. Participation in group music lessons helps develop good rhythm and listening skills. There may be opportunity to play selections at select recitals including the annual Teacher Association Recital. Once, the group was able to play at the Greenwood Mall during Christmas
